The Power of the Roof

I get rather excited by roofs. They can really make or break your design. There are so many chunky, unrefined roofs out there which is a pity since it doesn't necessarily take extra money to refine them. YT House is a case in point. I find the thin edge at the eaves really elegant and I often try to achieve something like this in my designs. This is further accentuated by the low pitch to the roof. If your overhang is deep enough there is no need for a gutter although you do forfeit rainwater collection. But then a hidden gutter set back along the outer face of the wall would work. It is also good to see tiles used for a change instead of metal roofing. Often in suburban settings this works better with the context.
